[AUDIO]: Roc Nation (@RocNation) Artist, ‘Belly,’ (@reBELLYus) Makes a Name for Himself in the Industry!

You may have heard of this artist through his affiliation with XO artist The Weeknd, or you may have heard of him from when he signed to none other than Roc Nation in 2015. Either way, if you don’t know who he is, you probably will soon!

Although Belly is originally from St. Palestine he grew up in Canada, where he has spent a lot of his time doing music – which can explain his friendship with Canada native, Abel a.k.a The Weeknd. Belly was signed to Roc Nation last year.

It’s exciting stuff. I want to say it was just a complete focus on my craft and my music and I put together a project that I felt like was representative of me as an artist. And I think I just got the right ears with it to the point where Jay Z was interested and heard it and invited me over,” he told Billboard around the time of the signing.

Jay-Z’s Bid For Streaming Site: Accepted

After much deliberating and convincing, it was decided by shareholders of a Swedish streaming site to accept Jay-Z’s $56 million offer.

The company, Aspiro, is said to be Spotify’s rival site, being the parent company of two subscription streaming services, WiMP and TIDAL. Mr. Carter placed his initial bid at the beginning of this year in hopes to acquire the streaming service to expand his already massive empire. As explained in an official statement issued by Project Panther Bidco, a sub-company under Jay-Z’s S. Carter Enterprises:

Panther believes that the recent developments in the entertainment industry, with the migration to media streaming, offers great potential for increased entertainment consumption and an opportunity for artists to further promote their music. Panther’s strategic ambition revolves around global expansion and up-scaling of Aspiro’s platform, technology and services.

They’re absolutely right. According to reports by Billboard, streaming content was up by 56 million last year. And the shareholders agreed accepting the bid was a good choice, just in time before the March 11th deadline. So what does this mean for the mogul? Could an all new streaming venture for Roc Nation be in the works? Only time will tell. But it’s clear to see that Jay-Z is business man.
