One of California’s biggest and most diverse festivals is The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. While this weekend was the last weekend of the fest headlining artist, Ice Cube, decided to bring out the NWA crew as surprise guests to perform some of their greatest hits. NWA members, Dr.Dre, MC Ren and Dj Yella all joined together to perform “straight outta compton” and “f*ck the police.” The crew also paid homage by honoring their member Eazy E, who passed away, by allowing his son Lil Eazy E to take the stage in his place. Dr. Dre had a solo performance as well. Dre treated the crowd with his hits “California Love” and “Still D.R.E.”
Not only did NWA hit the stage with Ice Cube, but one of the greatest rappers of this generation, Kendrick Lamar, hit the stage with the crew as well. A few weeks ago Compton emcee, Kendrick, inducted NWA into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and this weekend he joined them onstage to bless the crowd with his single “Alright,” which is one of my personal favorites. Coachella was filled with some of California natives finest and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year.
