One of California’s biggest and most diverse festivals is The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. While this weekend was the last weekend of the fest headlining artist, Ice Cube, decided to bring out the NWA crew as surprise guests to perform some of their greatest hits. NWA members, Dr.Dre, MC Ren and Dj Yella all joined together to perform “straight outta compton” and “f*ck the police.”

NWA members, Dr.Dre, MC Ren and Dj Yella all joined together to perform “straight outta compton” and “f*ck the police.” The crew also paid homage by honoring their member Eazy E, who passed away, by allowing his son Lil Eazy E to take the stage in his place. Dr. Dre had a solo performance as well. Dre treated the crowd with his hits “California Love” and “Still D.R.E.”

Not only did NWA hit the stage with Ice Cube, but one of the greatest rappers of this generation, Kendrick Lamar, hit the stage with the crew as well. A few weeks ago Compton emcee, Kendrick, inducted NWA into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and this weekend he joined them onstage to bless the crowd with his single “Alright,” which is one of my personal favorites. Coachella was filled with some of California natives finest and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year.

Below you can check out some photos from the performances.

#CelebrityCrush-Aldis Hodge (@AldisHodge)

Today’s #CelebrityCrush is no stranger to the limelight or our TV screens, we’re crushing on the fine Aldis Hodge !

While many may know Aldis Hodge for his role as MC Ren in the 2015 biopic “Straight Outta Compton”, Aldis has been acting for YEARS!!!! One of Aldis’ earliest roles was as Raymond in the third Die Hard film “Die Hard with a Vengance” and he didn’t stop there. Aldis went on to star in a little bit of everything from the small screen to the silver screen including the hit television show, “Leverage”, playing several voice characters in ‘Happy Feet’ and him being cast as the original Derwin Davis in the ‘The Game’ pilot.

Fresh off his Straight Outta Compton fame, Aldis is taking over the small screen in the hit show “Underground” – which is an American television period drama series created by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski about the Underground Railroad in Antebellum Georgia. The series stars former child star Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Law and Order SVU’s Christopher Meloni, Mykelti Williamson, and Reed Diamond. Aldis Hodge plays the character Noah; a driven, perceptive and restless slave on the Macon plantation.

The Trailer for the N.W.A. Biopic “Straight Outta Compton” Has Arrived!

When you think West Coast gangsta rap only one group comes to mind and that’s NWA (Niggaz With Attitude) which consisted of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, MC Ren and DJ Yella. Everything about the group led to them being one of the most legendary music groups of all time from their explicit hardcore lyrics to the glorification of crime which subsequently led to their music being banned from several mainstream American radio stations.

Everything about the group led to them being one of the most legendary music groups of all time from their explicit hardcore lyrics to the glorification of crime which subsequently led to their music being banned from several mainstream American radio stations.

The group had a successful run from 1986-1991 and their story will finally be gracing the big screen come August 2015. The N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton got its first trailer premiered during a concert in Sydney, Australia.

NWA

While it’s not of the greatest video quality, a few fans who were present captured the trailer and uploaded it to YouTube for the rest of the world to see.

“Let me tell you what I see here: A lot of raw talent, swagger, bravado. People are scared of you guys, they think you’re dangerous, but you have a unique voice. The world needs to hear it,” says Paul Giamatti, who stars as Jerry Heller, N.W.A.’s manager and the co-founder of Ruthless Records.

Straight Outta Compton was directed by F. Gary Gray and stars Jason Mitchell as Eazy E, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube’s own son O’Shea Jackson Jr. as his father.

Both Dr. Dre and Ice Cube are heavily involved with the making of this film so we know we can expect greatness! What do you think about the trailer? Are you ready to start bumping F— Tha Police from your car speakers yet?
